Phase change

Today I saw an ice cube melt in a cup of water, I saw the ice cube shrink and melt in to the water. The air transfered its heat to the water, which then transfered heat to the ice cube causing it to melt the ice cube. Heat energy was added, the ice cube had changed from a solid to a liquid. That transition was called melting.
